Donald Trump went a little too far with bragging about how much support he has from the law enforcement and the military.

First he tweeted that he received an endorsement from the St Johns County Sheriff’s Office and then he said in an interview that the United States military “conceptually” endorsed him and that “virtually every police department” in the country supported his candidacy for President.

He went onto say that it was his anti-immigration stance that got the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to endorse him.

But the catch is that is not only untrue but the Department of Defense is restricted by law to actively endorse any political party or candidate. The ICE too has similar laws prohibiting them from backing any candidate.

Despite Trump’s boastful claims, St John’s County Sheriff’s Office clearly stated both on Facebook and Twitter that it has not officially endorsed a candidate for president.

Where he does get his support from are only 88 veterans in total. Even Mitt Romney had a backing of 500 retired army officers when he ran for presidency.

Even in the case of ICE, the union representing 20,000 employees, National Immigration and Customs Enforcement Council, which is just a quarter of the total have voiced their support for Trump.
