The general secretary of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Naseemuddin Siddiqui alleged that Samajwadi Party (SP), the state rival in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh, uses Muslim population like bay leaf in biryani – only for its aroma – and disposes them post elections.
He was speaking at Bhaichara Sammelan, a public rally, in Khadra region of Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh, along with Goa, Manipur, Uttarakhand, and Punjab, will go to poll in 2017.
Muslims have been voting for the SP for last 25 years. Our women are very good at cooking. They will know that when biryani is cooked, tejpatta is used to give it aroma and taste. But once it is brought to be served, you remove the tejpatta first because it has served its purpose. Similarly the SP uses Muslims for aroma at the time of elections but once the polls are over, it abandons them.Naseemuddin Siddiqui, Secretary General, BSP
Digging out SP’s old electoral promises from 2012, Siddiqui said that the ruling party failed to fulfil its promise to provide reservation to Muslims and help the release of Muslim youth caught in terror cases.
Siddiqui urged members of the Muslim and Dalit community to unite and form a formidable political force, instead of watching each other burn. BSP, he said, will provide a platform for Muslims in a country which has the second largest Muslim population after Indonesia, he claimed.
During Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s time in office, Siddiqui said, UP witnessed 400 communal riots. Communal riots, he further claimed, are always orchestrated.
