After all the hue and cry, Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil finally released on Friday. On the opening day, there were no signs of the controversy which surrounded the movie having any negative impact on it.

RJ Stutee was live on Facebook for The Quint where she reviewed the movie and answered whether you should watch it or not. Ranbir Kapoor charms the audiences, and along with Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt cameos, there’s also a surprise appearance by Lisa Haydon in the movie.

As you decide whether to go for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil or Shivaay this Diwali weekend, let this review help you make the decision.

Farhan Akhtar, whose production house Excel Entertainment is co-producing the upcoming Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees, has said that he would not be paying Rs 5 crore to the Indian Army - as demanded by MNS Chief Raj Thackeray - to ensure the release of the film.

According to News18, Farhan said:

No question of giving Rs 5 crore to the Army (for Raees) as they have refused to take it.

Remember that familiar feeling of disappointment and irritation at getting the same ol’ dabba of sonpapdi or badaams or quarter filled bhujia packets as Diwali gifts?

Well this big Diwali release will leave you with the same emotions! Starring Ajay Devgn in three roles – as director, producer and actor – may be epic in its scale but a blunder when it comes to execution.

4. Defying Orders, Single Screens Release ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’

ADHM to be screened in single screen theatres as Shivaay fails to impress.

After all the drama over boycotting Pakistani actors, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) finally gave a green signal for the release of Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil on 22 October. But the Cinema Owners Exhibitors Association of India (COEAI) stood by their decision of not playing the movie on single screens.

We have given two shows to the film. Most of the single screens have started their advance booking so why should I suffer losses? The state government, along with Karan Johar and the MNS, had taken the decision to allow the film’s screening.

5. Fawad Khan’s Role Chopped Off In ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’?

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is finally going to be released today after Karan Johar brokered a deal with MNS leader, Raj Thackeray. While the debate about the deal and whether Pakistani artistes should be allowed to work in India or not keeps raging on, here’s a piece of news.

According to a review put out by Gulf News, Fawad Khan’s role has been written on as only a “special appearance” in the film.

Fawad Khan, who is written on the credit rolls as “special appearance” isn’t given much heft to make his role special. His love story with Alizeh, which showed immense promise, seems to have been killed unceremoniously. What went wrong between Alizeh and his character is skimmed over and leaves you wanting more.
Review in Gulf News

From this first review, it seems that the promise of a great love story between Fawad and Anushka has been “killed unceremoniously.”

Could it be that this was done following the controversy about the ban on Pakistani artistes? Did Karan bow down to the pressure, even at the expense of his story line suffering?
