Police have identified 20-year-old Arcan Cetin of Oak Harbor as the accused believed to have opened fire with a rifle at a Washington state mall, killing five people. Cetin was captured on Saturday, a day after the attack, authorities reported.
Washington State Patrol spokesman Keith Leary had earlier said in a phone interview that the suspect had been taken into custody but declined to immediately release more details.
The Washington State police had released photos of the accused who was captured in the footage of the mall’s CCTV footage.
The shooter disappeared under the cover of darkness at the Cascade Mall on Friday, authorities said.
Authorities have not released the names of the five victims and saying that they will not do so until autopsies are completed.
The FBI said they see no indications of terrorism in the attack, although the investigation is in its preliminary phase and no suspect has yet been arrested.
According to local media reports, the shooter apparently entered the mall about 7 PM (local time Friday) through one of its stores ‘Macy’s’.
Local police, however, described the suspect as appearing between 20 to 25 years old, with a “skinny built”, black messy hair and wearing a black shirt who was last seen walking toward Interstate 5 from the mall.
The Cascade Mall is an enclosed shopping mall in Burlington, Washington that opened in 1990, according to the mall’s website.
