The Indian government has suspended the passport of liquor baron Vijay Mallya for four weeks on the request Enforcement Directorate’s request. The Passport Authority of India, an institution under the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), said that Mallya’s domestic passport has been suspended.
While the ex-employees of Kingfisher Airline have welcomed the move, they have expressed their concerns that Mallya might use passport revocation as a reason for not travelling to India for the upcoming hearing.
On the other hand, Congress has slammed the government and accused them of double standards.
Mallya is facing legal action for defaulting on loans worth Rs 9000 crore.
