Tension gripped the streets of Kushinagar in eastern UP, after a girl died in a road accident. The girl was going to her coaching class, when a truck-driver hit her scooty.
Students came out on the streets, vandalised vehicles and set them on fire. The police arrived on the spot and a clash between the two ensued.
In the middle of this, the deceased’s uncle, Jai Shri Sharma, a government employee, got beaten up brutally by the police.
“She was my niece and I was asking for her dead body. They didn’t listen to me and started hitting me with lathis, ” he said.
The police is now investigating the matter and is also going to arrest some students who were behind the violence.
