Anti-AFSPA Activists and Mothers of Manipur Not Happy With Irom’s Decision
Irom Sharmila’s decision to break her fast hasn’t gone down well with some of the anti-AFSPA activists in Manipur. Johnson Elangbam, President of United Committee of Manipur, the largest civil society in the state fighting for territorial integrity of Manipur, said Sharmila took a unilateral decision and that she should have consulted people before her decision.
Some of the women who took part in the 2004 naked protest in Imphal against the alleged murder and rape of Thangjam Manorama by the Assam Rifles, have also expressed their criticism against India’s Iron Lady.
