Actor Kamal Haasan Chosen for Coveted French Chevalier Award
Actor Kamal Hasaan has been appointed Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et Lettres (Knight in the National Order Arts and Letters) by the French Minister of Culture and Communication. The award is a recognition of significant contributions to the fields of arts, literature, or their propagation.
The second Tamil star after thespian Sivaji Ganesan to receive this honour, Haasan will join the likes of TS Eliot, Audrey Hepburn and Bruce Willis in the list of names who have received this award.

A galaxy of stars – some proven world beaters, some shy first-timers – represented India as part of its largest-ever contingent at these Olympic Games, with 117 athletes being allowed to ultimately compete.

With the closing ceremony on the horizon though, the young women of the contingent led the way, stepping up and earning unforeseen accolades. Defying all the odds and showing killer instincts, PV Sindhu and Sakshi Malik became the unlikely heroines for India and saved the country’s pride from returning empty-handed for the first time since Barcelona 1992.
