The lives of two children in Ranchi have been plagued by an extreme genetic disorder called Progeria.

As a result of the disease, five-year-old Pinku and his seven-year-old sister Anjali Kumar look older than their age. The rare syndrome in children is characterised by physical symptoms suggestive of premature old age.

On consulting doctors, the parents were asked to take the children to the US. The couple, who struggles to make ends meet, said they could not afford the travel costs and avail the expensive treatment.

Usually, people with such disorders do not have a long life.
