The NDA on Monday announced Union Minister of Information and Broadcast Minister Venkaiah Naidu as its vice presidential nominee. 2. MPs, MLAs Cast Votes for Presidential Elections

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah were among the first to cast their votes to elect the 14th President of India. A total of 776 MPs and 4,120 MLAs cast their votes on Monday. The fight is between NDA’s nominee and former Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind and Opposition’s candidate and former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar.

3. In Bengal’s Chatra, Bangladeshi Hindu Immigrants Flock to BJP

The village of Chatra in Machhalandapur block was on the brink of communal violence between Hindus and Muslims on 6 July. A crisis was averted in the otherwise sleepy village, which is not very far from Baduria in Basirhat subdivision of West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district.

Several Bangladeshi Hindu immigrants – who crossed over to West Bengal in the last 15-20 years – have settled down in Chatra, which is about 26 kms from the porous International border. When The Quint visited Chatra, several Bangladeshi Hindu immigrants said that since they were forced to uproot themselves from their villages in Bangladesh, they would not take it lying down in their new home in West Bengal.

5. Here’s What People Said When We Asked Them Why They Love Momos

At the Momo Festival held at DLF Mall of India this weekend, Delhiites came down in hordes to eat their most beloved street food – the dumpling.

Recently, momos were in the news as BJP MLA Ramesh Arora wanted them banned, saying they were made using ajinomoto, which caused cancer of the intestine. This, of course, wasn’t received well by momo-lovers.
