In a major setback to Lalu Prasad Yadav, the Supreme Court on Monday ruled that the RJD leader will face separate trial in all four fodder scam cases, as it set aside the Jharkhand High Court order which had dropped conspiracy charges against him.

A bench comprising Justices Arun Mishra and Amitava Roy directed the trial court to complete the proceedings against 68-year-old Yadav and others within nine months.

Reacting to the apex court’s order, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Manoj Jha said his party is ready to face trial and would eventually be given a clean chit in the case. RJD’s ally Janata Dal united too appeared to throw its weight behind Lalu.

While noting that no one should interfere in the course of justice, senior party leader KC Tyagi alleged that the Central Bureau of Investigation has been suddenly active in cases involving Lalu Prasad Yadav as well as Lal Krishna Advani.
