A Muslim dairy farmer was severely injured after a mob charged at his residence amid rumours of a cow carcass being found outside his home in Jharkhand’s Giridih district.
The mob comprising around 1,000 people came equipped with sticks and stones, and was about to attack Usman Ansari’s home in Baria village, when police forces reached the scene and rescued his family. The angry mob also set a part of Ansari’s house on fire.
55-year-old Ansari has been shifted to a hospital, where he’s receiving initial treatment. His family members have been moved to a safe location, and section 144 has been imposed in the area.
Wednesday’s incident comes close on the heels of another incident in which a 15-year-old Junaid Khan was stabbed to death in a crowded delhi-Mathura train. The fight initially broke out over seats and later turned communal as attackers accused Junaid and his brothers of being beef consumers.
