A boat capsized in the Rohini river in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. Four out of seven women, who were crossing the river in the boat, went missing. The boat was reportedly overloaded and was holding passengers more than its capacity.
The women, residents of Rampur Nayagaon, were going to the other side of the river to collect firewood, which was their daily routine.
A team from the National Disaster Response Force carried out the rescue operation but there was no trace of the other four girls. The NDRF team said that chances of survival are bleak.
Local officials and minister reached the spot to take stock of the situation.
