The weavers of Gorakhpur, mostly from the Muslim community, have put out a poster outside their mohalla asking the candidates not to enter the area. The weavers are angry about the sad state of the economy and closing down of powerlooms.

Around 1 lakh weavers reside in the area surrounding the Gorakhnath temple. They have decided that they will vote on 4 March, but will boycott the candidates. Instead of voting for a party, they will choose NOTA.

In 1995, there were 8,500 powerlooms in Gorakhpur, but only 250 have survived.
