Speaking about demonetisation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur that the country’s poor are now “sleeping in peace, while the rich are scrambling for sleeping pills”.
But ground reports from across the country seem to sharply contradict PM Modi’s claim. From Kolkata to Nagpur, harried customers on Monday ran from one ATM to the other, hoping to lay their hands on cash.
With ATMs going dry, many were left disappointed. Some even said they didn’t have money to buy food. Seems like the poor aren’t sleeping peacefully after all.
