The Jat stir in Haryana has severely limited the movement of more than 800 trains. Seven railway stations were set on fire by agitators. Jhajjar, Buddha Khed, Julana and Pillu Kheda were among the seven stations which were set afire, a railway spokesperson said.

The death toll has risen to seven people, across the state. Curfew has been clamped down in Sonipat, Rohtak, Bhiwandi districts.

Paramilitary forces have been deployed in the state and internet and SMS services have been suspended.

A high-level meeting took place on Saturday at Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s house where the agitation was discussed. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar were present at the meeting.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has appealed for calm in the state, along with former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. The latter also said that he will start a hunger strike in Jantar Mantar in the national capital on Sunday.
