Floods in Assam have not only taken a toll on people but have caused great distress to wildlife. Nearly 310 animal lives have been claimed in the Kaziranga National Park as a result of the heavy rainfall.
Forest officials have found 21 rhinos including 10 calves, 221 hog deer and one tiger to be dead so far. This situation raises pertinent questions about man-animal conflicts.
The water however, is now receding, bringing much needed respite to the animals.
