Fire at Ammunition Depot Kills 16, Parrikar Visits the Injured

Two senior army officers and 14 personnel including one army jawan and 14 civilian fire-tenders were killed.

A fire broke out at Army’s ammunition depot in Pulgaon, Maharashtra early morning on Tuesday. 16 personnel were dead and 17 were injured in an attempt to douse the fire.

Lt General Ranbir Singh, DGMO of Indian army said that the injured  have been shifted to a hospital in Wardha, which is 35 km from Pulgaon. The cause of fire is still unknown.

Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar visited the injured in the hospital and took stock of their condition.
