Staff from a tavern in Asbury Park, New Jersey beer garden helped several ducklings who made a harrowing plunge from the businesses’ rooftop.

The tavern owner Jennifer Lampert and sous chef Tim Spielman at Ashbury Festhalle & Biergarten discovered a nest with seven duck eggs on the roof a few weeks ago.

The owners sought expert advice and was told to leave the nest alone.

Last Thursday the eggs hatched and the ducklings started to jump off the roof.

Sous Chef Tim Spielman managed to catch two of them in his hat as the whole adventure was caught in a video on a mobile phone.

Once off the roof, the ducklings followed their mom to nearby Wesley Lake and calmly swam away.
