The Quint’s Take: Modi’s Speech Had Rhetoric, But No Action Plan

While Prime Minister Narendra Modi put on a fine display of anger during his speech at the BJP National Council meet in Kozhikode, it’s not clear what his action against Pakistan in light of the Uri attack is going to be.

It wasn’t expected that the Prime Minister would adopt a line of ‘war-mongering’. He showed a semblance of restraint, quite unlike his usual self. Modi appealed to the people of Pakistan, invoking the rhetoric of development – one which he has often turned to during elections.

In what became a ‘Mann Ki Baat’ with the people of Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi invoked their pre-Independence connection with India, and called for a war against poverty, illiteracy and unemployment.
