Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus is readying the stage to welcome the Indian media for the launch of the much awaited OnePlus 6. The launch has been confirmed for 17 May in Mumbai at 3:00 pm IST. The company made the announcement amidst rumours that the the phone will be launched in May.
The company had started very early with the promotions with a 4-second teaser which started and finished even before you could say “OnePlus”.
According to rumours flying around, the OnePlus 6 will sport a notch on the front just like the iPhone X. The tall size screen is likely to sport a 2160x1080 pixels resolution, unless OnePlus decides to up the display ante in 2018.
One also needs to consider what the cousins of OnePlus, that is Oppo and Vivo, are working on. Android is going big with the ‘notch design’ this year, with a software-enabled Android P, as we’ve seen with the developer preview version.
Apart from the aesthetic changes on the front of the device, the dual cameras could switch from horizontal to vertical placement at the back. The fingerprint scanner is the intriguing one, but will OnePlus offer the feature on the display?
Let’s wait and watch out for that. Also, after parting ways with the telephoto lens on the 5T, the OnePlus 6 could change the camera dynamics further and introduce AI features with it like the Honor View 10 and the Huawei P20.
On the hardware front the OnePlus 6 could receive a Snapdragon 845 with 6GB and 8GB RAM options. It’s likely that OnePlus might be a bit over adventurous and offer a 10GB RAM variant as well (as if 8GB wasn’t enough already).
Possibilities of a Dual-SIM phone are also there with 4G VoLTE connectivity, along with storage options like 64GB, 128GB and even 256GB.
