Another member of HTC’s One series should be making its way to India before Diwali. HTC is a brand which has been running away with design laurels year-after-year but this time, something feels different.
The all new HTC One A9 looks nothing like the previous phones launched under the One name. Instead, there is a definite Apple element to it.
Yup. After making all those metal-clad phones over the years, the first sight of the One A9 will give you the impression that HTC has fallen for Apple’s design methodology.
Time for Change
The full-metal body has been retained by the Taiwanese brand, which insists that the One A9 can be ranked among the popular phones available. Many of us have cribbed about HTC’s persistence with the same design language for a while now, so a makeover was definitely due.
It was understandable when Samsung revamped its outdated design policy which was first seen with Galaxy S6. But HTC’s revamp is aligned towards making things even better.
HTC claims to have taken back the design language, which apparently was stolen from the company by Apple.
Design Lull: What Next for Android Phones?
The fact that HTC has resorted to the iPhone-lookalike design seems to suggest that its designers have hit a dead-end.
This isn’t the first instance of an iPhone-inspired phone this year. Lenovo has been guilty of the same with its S60 smartphone which was launched at Rs 12,990 in India.
So, are we going to see more iPhone clones, even from brands like HTC?
All said and done, we really hope the HTC One A9 becomes a popular choice among buyers for all the right reasons.
