We’ve all been eagerly waiting for the Royal Enfield Himalayan.

A series of photos leaked by Shifting Gears show the Himalayan on the Royal Enfield production line. The image more or less clears the air about what the bike will finally look like. And we think the bike looks stunning.

The credit could go to Pierre Terblanche, an ex-Ducati designer and had stints at Volkswagen, Moto Guzzi (Piaggio) and Norton motorcycles, was roped in last year.

The bike more or less looks ready to go and does not remain the prototype that everyone’s been drooling over. The bike has the ‘Himalayan’ badging on side panel and usually that is the last thing to go up on any vehicle. Hence, we think that this beast is all set to hit the roads soon.

It is reported that the Himalayan will be powered by a single cylinder, 410cc engine putting out 32 Nm of torque and 28 PS of power. The engine, which is undergoing final testing and tuning, will also get overhead cams as opposed to the traditional push rods and will rev with ease to 6,500-7,000 RPM.

It is also being reported that the brand new double cradle frame chassis has been developed by Harris Performance. The bike will have a reinforced subframe to increase its capacity to carry luggage required for the long rides it is meant for.

The Himalayan will also get a digital display on its brand new instrument cluster which will accommodate two trip meters, a compass and an altitude meter.

Royal Enfield will probably price the Himalayan in the range of around Rs. 1.65 – 1.85 lakh.

Let’s hope it isn’t more and we get to ride into the Himalayan sunsets on this beautiful beast soon!
