Sakshi Malik’s brilliant performance at the Rio Olympics 2016 got India its first medal in this edition, and the only one for an Indian woman wrestler. Sakshi won a bronze medal after defeating Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kyrgyzstan 8-5 in the women’s wrestling 58 kg match. The medal is a proof of her perseverance and never-say-die attitude.
And by winning the first medal for Indian women’s wrestling, she’s definitely a ‘Pehelwon’ for all of us. May she get stronger, because it’s ‘bout time.
