PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth will be competing in the pre-quarters of the Women’s Singles and Men’s Singles Badminton events respectively. While Sindhu will be playing Taiwanese Tai Tzu-ying, Kidambi will be playing Demark’s Jan Ø. Jørgensen.

India’s Lalita Babar, who will be taking part in the women’s 3,000 metre Steeplechase finals on Monday, had shattered the national record in the qualifiers of her event at the Rio Olympics on Saturday.

Lalita finished fourth fastest, clocking 9 minutes 19.76 seconds in the Round 1 Heat 2 at the Olympic Stadium to end seventh overall among the 15 qualifiers.

Vikas Krishan Yadav, who is the only Indian boxer left in the Rio Olympics, will be taking on Uzbekistan’s Bektemir Melikuziev in the qurter-final on Monday.

Renjith Maheshwary will be in action in the the qualification round of the men’s triple jump event and Srabani Nanda will participate in the first round of the women’s 200m sprint event on Monday.

Representing India for the third time at the Olympics, Seema Punia will be competing in the Women’s Discus Throw qualifiers.

Ravinder Khatri will kick off India’s wrestling campaign at the Rio Olympics, when he takes part in the men’s Greco-Roman event (85 kg) on the tenth day of the Rio Olympics.
