India’s Day 7 Sked: Men’s Hockey, Boxer Vikas and Archer Atanu Das

There are many Indians, who will be taking part on the seventh day of the Rio Olympics. The archer Atanu Das, who has performed exceedingly well in the competition so far will be taking on Korea’s S Lee in the quarter-final of the individual event.

Vikas Gowda will be in action in the qualification round of the discus throw event on Friday. Gowda, who is the only Indian to win a track-and-field gold medal in the last fifty years, has been the most consistent Indian athlete in the recent past.

There are four more athletics events on Friday. Manpreet Kaur will be in action in the shot put qualification round. Jinson Johnson will take part in the first round of the 800m event. Gurmeet Singh, Manish Singh Rawat, Ganapathi Krishnan will participate in the 20km race walk event and Mohammad Anas will be participating in the first round of the 400m event.

India’s women’s badminton pair Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponappa, who lost their first group match on Thursday will take on Netherlands’ E Muskens and S Piek in their next match. The men’s badminton pair Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy, who also lost their first match will face off against China’s W Hong and B Chai on Friday.

Boxer Vikas Krishan Yadav takes on Turkey’s O Sipal in the next round of the 75kg event, rower Dattu Baban Bhokanlal will be taking part in the semi-final of the single sculls event and Anirban Lahiri and SSP Chawrasia will be participate in the second round of the golf event.

The men’s hockey team, who have qualified for the quarter-final will take on Canada in their next group match.

Gagan Narang and Chain Singh will be hoping to turnaround the fortunes of the Indian shooters when they participate in the 50m Rifle Prone qualification round on Friday. Shooter Mairaj Ahmed Khan will be in action in the skeet event as well.

On the seventh day of the Rio Games, Gurpreet Singh will be in action in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol event.
