After Virat Kohli’s team thrashed Pakistan by 124 runs in the first match of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy, Virendra Sehwag took to Twitter to congratulate Team India in his own style.
However, Sehwag’s tweet didn’t go down too well with Pakistan’s former wicket-keeper Rashid Latif. Latif posted a 15-minute video on Facebook titled ‘Special Response to Sehwag’ after India faced a humiliating defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka in their second match of the tournament.
“I congratulate Virat Kohli-World’s number one batsman, Anil Kumble, who has a decent demeanour and all other players I have played with or heard about, Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh, Sachin Tendulkar,” Latif says in the video.
Taking a dig at Sehwag, Latif says he should learn respect from the likes of Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Ravi Shastri and Ajay Jadeja.
“I have nothing against anybody, but the way Sehwag took a dig at Pakistan, I just want to warn him that this not the way to behave. We should respect each other’s countries”.
Latif concludes by saying that there should be more test matches between India and Pakistan in the subcontinent.
Here’s how Sehwag responded:
While Sehwag had a muted response, Indian batsman Manoj Tiwary responded to Latif with a scathing video of his own.
Accusing Latif of posting the video for attention, Tiwary says in the video that Latif should verify Sehwag’s records before criticising him.
Let’s hope this exchange ends here.
