Sania Mirza-Ivan Dodig beat Gabriela Dabrowski-Rohan Bopanna 6-4 3-6 12-10 to advance to the semifinals of the mixed doubles event at the Australian Open.
The second seeds took an hour and seven minutes to beat the unseeded Indo-Canadian pair 6-4, 3-6, 12-10 in the last-eight clash.
The Indo-Croatian pair started well, taking advantage of the one break to clinch the first set 6-4 and take a lead in the beginning.
Rohan and Gabriela battled their way back into the game by winning the second set 3-6, thus levelling the match.
Rohan and his partner got three match point chances in the super tie-break at 9-6 but their opponents managed to fight back and equal the score at 9-9.
After Dabrowski-Bopanna took a point’s lead, Mirza and Dodig won three straight points to win the set and the game.
Sania Mirza and Ivan Dodig are now just two wins away from clinching their first Australian Open doubles title and grand slam title as a pair.
