Kohli’s 113 Powers RCB to 82-run Win Over KXIP

Skipper Virat Kohli scripted yet another century to power Royal Challengers Bangalore to a dominating 82-run win over bottom-placed Kings XI Punjab via Duckworth-Lewis method in a rain-hit IPL clash on Wednesday.

Kohli (113 off 50 balls) battled immense physical pain to notch up his fourth century in the ongoing IPL season and also became the only batsman to score more than 800 runs in a single edition. His tally stands at 865 runs from 13 matches.

The hosts then returned to dismiss/restrict Kings XI for 120 in 14 overs to register their seventh win and reach the second spot in points table with 14 points in 13 matches.

Sevilla Fight Back to Win Europa League for Third Year in a Row

Sevilla survived a first-half battering before hitting back with three second-half goals, two from Coke, to beat Liverpool 3-1 in the Europa League final on Wednesday and win the trophy for the third season in a row.

Liverpool dominated the early stages and went ahead through an exquisite goal by England striker Daniel Sturridge, who nonchalantly curled an inswinging shot inside the far post with the outside of his left foot. Sevilla clung on until halftime and hit back dramatically when Kevin Gameiro turned in Mariano Perreira’s cross less than one minute after the re-start.

Coke fired Sevilla ahead and added a controversial third after the linesman initially raised his flag for offside, only for referee Jonas Eriksson to award the goal following a lengthy consultation.

WFI Not Keen on Trial, Says HC Will Make Sushil Verdict

Sushil Kumar’s fight for an Olympic berth suffered another blow with the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) strongly hinting that they would prefer Narsingh Yadav for the Rio by insisting on not having a trial given the quota winner’s “consistent performances”.

Following the Delhi High Court’s directive, a special WFI committee, formed on the instruction of the court, held a meeting with the two-time Olympic medallist, to sort out as to who between Sushil and Narsingh would represent India in the men’s 74kg freestyle category at the mega-event in August.

We have told him that ‘you have put Indian wrestling at a pedestal and we cannot ignore your contribution and we all respect you’. But on the other hand, there is another wrestler who has brought the Olympic quota and also has been giving consistent performances. So, can we be unfair to him also?
Brij Bhushan Singh, President-WFI
