1. Defiant Roston Chase Helps West Indies Draw Second Test

A brilliant century from Roston Chase, aided by half-centuries from Jermaine Blackwood, Shane Dowrich and Jason Holder, helped West Indies draw the second Test against India at the Sabina Park Stadium on Wednesday.

Roston Chase led the way with a defiant 137 to help West Indies score 388/6, while India managed to take just two wickets on Day 5.

The only West Indies wicket to fall during the post lunch session was that of Shane Dowrch -- a virtual gift by umpire Ian Gould to leg-spinner Amit Mishra.

2. West Indies Produced Special Batting to Save Test: Kohli

India skipper Virat Kohli says he can only doff his hat to the West Indies batsmen, who produced a special batting display to save the second Test. Starting the day at 48/4, West Indies managed to bat the entire fifth day to deny India a 2-0 lead in the series as Roston Chase led the charge with an unbeaten 137.

It was testing day. That’s what Test cricket is all about. Pity we lost most of yesterday (due to rain). That’s no excuse, credit to the way West Indies played today. When you lose a Test and behind in the second, it takes something special to save the match.
Virat Kohli

The Indian captain said his bowlers were not found wanting as they gave their all in dismissing the rival players.

Our bowlers tried their best, we created some chances, but they didn’t go to hand. The first four days the wicket was very active. The hardness of the ball was a factor. On these pitches when the ball is not hard enough, play goes dead for 25-30 overs. Pretty pleased with the effort the boys put in. After tea as well. Everybody put in a last push.

3. World Wrestling Body Clears Path for Narsingh’s Rio Participation

The world’s apex wrestling body, United World Wrestling (UWW), on Wednesday gave the green light to India’s Narsingh Yadav for participation at the Rio Olympics after the country’s National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) gave a clean chit to the grappler.

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) had communicated to UWW on Monday that NADA has cleared Narsingh of all doping-related charges and the 26-year-old would be re-included in the Indian team for the 74 kilogram competition.

However, Narsingh’s route to Rio can only be cleared after World Anti-Doping Agency completes its review of the NADA panel verdict. WADA can challenge NADA verdict at the Court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS).

4. Ibrahimovic Says Rooney as His Perfect Partner at Man United

Newly-signed Manchester United star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes that captain Wayne Rooney can be his “perfect partner” in attack in the forthcoming English Premier League (EPL) season.

Rooney has been at United since his move from Everton in 2004 and although he has receded into a deeper role more recently, new chief coach Jose Mourinho is set to move him further forward again this season.

I think every big player can work with other big players. That’s not a problem. We are 11 players, not two players on the pitch. It’s up to the coach what he wants but, with him, I see no problems. Only success.

5. Vijender Breaks into WBO Rankings at 10th Spot

Indian boxing star Vijender Singh has broken into the World Boxing Organisation’s (WBO) rankings at 10th after being crowned its Asia Pacific super middleweight champion last month.

Vijender, who beat former WBC European champion Kerry Hope to win the title in a gruelling 10-round contest, has been unbeaten since he turned professional last year, recording seven straight wins -- six of them knockouts.

It’s just the start for me, one day I want to be the No.1 in the world. That’s my dream and I am sure I will achieve it.
Vijender Singh

The Indian is placed above rising American star Trevor McCumby, who is also undefeated in the circuit with 22 wins, 17 of them knockouts.

6. Sohail Stars for Pakistan Against England

Sohail Khan marked his return to Test cricket after a five-year absence with a maiden five-wicket haul as Pakistan dismissed England for 297 on the first day of the third Test at Edgbaston.

After Sohail sparked a top-order collapse, England were indebted to left-handers Gary Ballance (70) and Moeen Ali (63) for taking them to what could yet prove a challenging total.

Sohail’s return was all the more impressive as his previous two Tests -- against Sri Lanka at Karachi in 2009 and against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo in 2011 -- had yielded a combined haul of one for 245. A stress fracture of the back after last year’s World Cup provided a further check on his progress.
