1. Kohli Fined For Showing Dissent at Umpire

India’s limited-overs vice-captain Virat Kohli has been fined 30 percent of his match fee for showing dissent at the umpire after being given out LBW during his side’s Asia Cup T20 match against Pakistan in Mirpur.

The incident happened in the 15th over of India’s innings on Saturday when Kohli, after being given out leg before, displayed dissent by first showing his bat and then leaving the crease while looking back at the umpire and uttering some words that were not in the spirit of the game.

The player was found to have breached Article 2.1.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.

4. Rashford Inspires United Win over Arsenal

Teenager Marcus Rashford followed up two goals on his Manchester United debut in midweek with another brace plus an assist as Louis van Gaal’s team defeated Arsenal 3-2 in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The 18-year-old local man struck twice in three minutes in the first half to undermine third-placed Arsenal’s title challenge.

Former United striker Danny Welbeck pulled one goal back but Rashford set up Ander Herrera for United’s third before Mesut Ozil reduced the deficit.

The result left Arsenal five points behind leaders Leicester City while Manchester United returned to fifth place above West Ham.

5. Manchester City Win League Cup Final on Penalties

Manchester City guaranteed manager Manuel Pellegrini some silverware in his last season in charge with a penalty shootout defeat of Liverpool in the League Cup final on Sunday after the match had ended 1-1.

City keeper Willy Caballero saved penalties from Lucas Leiva, Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana while Yaya Toure slotted home the winning effort as the Manchester side won 3-1 on penalties.

Earlier, Fernandinho gave City the lead after 49 minutes when his shot slipped through keeper Simon Mignolet’s grasp but Coutinho levelled with seven minutes to go from a rebound.

Mignolet and Caballero made vital saves in extra time but City clinched the season’s first trophy in a dramatic fashion to give Pellegrini his second League Cup, having also won it two years ago as well as the Premier League title.

6. Cong Asks BCCI to Shift Indo-Pak Match from Dharamsala

Himachal Pradesh Congress asked the BCCI on Sunday to either cancel the proposed India-Pakistan T20 World Cup match slated for March 19 to be held at Dharamsala or shift the venue.

The executive of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee also criticised the Secretary of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and BJP MP Anurag Thakur for the decision to host the match in Dharamsala.

Our party is not against holding other World Cup matches but only opposing the one against Pakistan as it would hurt the sentiments of the people, especially the families of martyrs.

7. Wawrinka Wins Dubai Title After Marathon Tiebreak

Stan Wawrinka edged out Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis in a nerve-wrecking, near-30 minute tiebreak to win the Dubai Duty Free Championship with a 6-4 7-6(13) triumph on Saturday.

Wawrinka’s path to victory had been eased by the retirements of world number one Novak Djokovic and Australian prospect Nick Kyrgios in the earlier rounds but the Swiss fought hard against surprise finalist Baghdatis, whom he beat for a sixth successive time.

World number four Wawrinka was gifted the first set by a Baghdatis double fault - his third of that game alone - and a tepid second set was notable for not featuring a single break point.

But then followed a 28-point tiebreak in which two-time grand slam champion Wawrinka saved five set points before a Baghdatis backhand drifted long to give the Swiss a second title of the year following his victory at the Chennai Open in January.
