Bopanna-Rodionova win, Sania-Dodig out of Wimbledon

India’s Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Anastasia Rodionova advanced to the third round but it was curtains for top seeded Indo-Croatian combo of Sania Mirza and Ivan Dodig in the mixed doubles competition at the Wimbledon.

Serena Beats Pavlyuchenkova to Join Venus in Semis

Serena Williams battered Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-4 6-4 in the quarter-finals at Wimbledon on Tuesday, seizing on moments of weakness from the Russian to ram home her advantage.

The defending champion, seeking an elusive 22nd grand slam to equal Steffi Graf’s open-era record, took the first set after finding a chink in her opponent’s serving armoury in the ninth game. The world No.1 wrapped up the tie on her second match point with a 123 mph ace for 11 in total.

Williams joins her sister Venus in the semi-finals on Thursday where she will meet another Russian, Elena Vesnina.

Bale Plays Down Importance of Duel With Ronaldo

Gareth Bale says Wales’ Euro 2016 semi-final against Portugal on Wednesday will not be decided by his personal duel with Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.

It’s not just about two players, it’s about two nations in a semi-final, 11 men against 11 men. Ronaldo is a fantastic player, but we talk about what we can do and don’t worry about the opposition. It’s about how we perform as a team.
Gareth Bale, Wales

Ronaldo, Portugal’s most capped player and highest goalscorer, has failed to catch fire so far at the tournament, with his two goals to date coming against Hungary in the group stage.

Bale has scored one more -- while also teeing up Wales’s winner from an own goal in their second-round tie against Northern Ireland - and has been central to his country’s surprise run to the last four.

Man United Will be Ibrahimovic’s Biggest Challenge - Mourinho

Manchester United’s marquee signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic will face the biggest challenge of his glittering career in the Premier League this season, manager Jose Mourinho has said.

Zlatan is Zlatan. He wins year after year. His goal record is absolutely amazing, his passion for the game is incredible and it’s only possible with his passion and ambition, with his CV, to make the decision at this stage of his career, for the biggest challenge of his career.

Striker Ibrahimovic, who completed his move to Old Trafford last week, has won titles in four different countries, including at Inter Milan, where he played under Mourinho.
