Liverpool roared to the top of the Premier League on Sunday, offering another dazzling demonstration of their attacking prowess under Jurgen Klopp with a 6-1 demolition of Watford at an exultant Anfield.

After Arsenal had missed the chance to jump ahead of overnight leaders Chelsea by only eking out a 1-1 draw with their north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool were in no mood to squander the chance as they overwhelmed their hapless visitors.

Liverpool's day could only have been improved if the woes of their rivals Manchester United had continued but goals from their misfiring double act of Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in a 3-1 win at Swansea City ensured relief for manager Jose Mourinho after a trying week.

It turned out to be a heartbreaking end to Sourabh Verma's rampaging run at the Bitburger Open as the Indian shuttler went down fighting to world number 16 Shi Yuqi of China in the summit clash of the Grand Prix Gold badminton tournament Saarbrucken (Germany) on Sunday.

The 23-year-old Indian, who had clinched the Chinese Taipei Open last month, suffered a 19-21 20-22 loss against Shi in a 45-minute men's singles final clash.

It was the second successive title for Shi, who had clinched the French Super Series last week. For world number 57 Sourabh, however, it was his third runners-up finish this season after finishing second best at international challengers at Belgium and Poland.

Andy Murray celebrated his impending rise to the world number one ranking with a 6-3 6-7(4) 6-4 victory against John Isner to claim his maiden Paris Masters title and his eighth tournament win of the season on Sunday.

The Briton, who will take over from Novak Djokovic at the top of the ATP rankings on Monday, survived a barrage of aces against the towering American to win his 14th career Masters tournament.

The three-time Grand Slam champion gave little breathing space to Isner, who was hoping to clinch his first Masters title after two lost finals.

Murray will be the top seed at the season-ending ATP World Tour finals at the O2 Arena in London from 13-20 November.
