In Pictures | West Indies beat India by seven wickets to book a final spot in the World T20.

Lendl Simmons smashed 82 runs from 51 balls to take West Indies to a seven-wicket win against India in the World T20 semi-final at Mumbai on Thursday.

After India posted a daunting total of 192/2, they had West Indies on the mat at 19/2 but them Simmons strung two big partnerships with Johnson Charles and Andre Russell to take West Indies home.

Rohit Sharma got India to a terrific start with a 31-ball 43 innings. India were 62/1 after 7.2 overs. Finally the Indian opening pair crossed 50 runs in the World T20.

Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane strung a huge partnership of 66 runs.

There was a minor hiccup in between the brilliant partnership between Kohli and Rahane. Dinesh Ramdin and Dwayne Bravo had an easy chance each to get Virat run out on the same ball but fortunately for India, both the players missed. Kohli had scored just two runs at that time.

Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on 89 runs as India scored 192/2 runs in their 20 overs. MS Dhoni remained not out on 15.

West Indies’ Reply

Jasprit Bumrah got Chris Gayle bowled for five runs in the first ball of his spell.

Then Ashish Nehra sent Marlon Samuels packing for just eight runs. West Indies were reduced to 19/2 at the end of the third over.

Then, Simmons and Charles took charge for the West Indians and notched up 97 runs together.

Guess who came to the rescue for the Indian? None other than Virat Kohli. Simmons and Charles were taking the game away from the Men in Blue and then Kohli got rid of Charles for 52.

Lendl Simmons (82*) and Andre Russell (43) put on 80 runs in 38 balls to take West Indies home with seven wickets in hand.
