South Africa beat India by four runs in the World T20 warm-up game in Mumbai on Saturday.

South Africa: 196 for 8 in 20 overs (JP Duminy 67, Quinton de Kock 56; Hardik Pandya 3/37)

India: 192 for 3 in 20 overs (Shikhar Dhawan 73, Suresh Raina 41; Imran Tahir 1/25)

The India-South Africa World T20 warm-up game turned out to be a nerve wrecking one in Mumbai on Saturday. After South Africa set a huge target of 197, MS Dhoni’s team fell short by just four runs.

Shikhar Dhawan looked in supreme touch. He top scored in the match with 73 runs.

India take on New Zealand in their first World T20 game on Tuesday.

Jasprit Bumrah got rid of Hashim Amla (5) in the third over.

After Mohammed Shami sent Faf du Plessis back to the pavilion, JP Duminy joined Quinton de Kock at 33/2.

Duminy (67) and De Kock (56) put on 115 runs before the latter made way for David Miller at 148/3 in the 16th over.

Hardik Pandya picked up three quick wickets to reduce South Africa to 171/5 in the 18th over. The Proteas eventually finished at 196/8.

India’s Reply

Rohit Sharma was out LBW for just 10 runs to Kyle Abbott in the second over.

Virat Kohli scored only one run and Ajinkya Rahane managed just eleven runs as India were reduced to 48/3 by the seventh over.

Then Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina began reconstructing the innings.

Dhawan went onto score a blistering 73 from 53 balls and Raina scored 41 (26 balls) before making way for MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh to bat.

With India needing 55 runs from the last four overs, Dhoni smashed the ball all over the park. He scored 30 from 15 balls and reduced the equation to six runs from one ball with a little help from Yuvraj.

But, Chris Morris managed to bowl a dot ball after bowling a wide and South Africa won by four runs.
