Wimbledon’s strict dress code just claimed a new victim, only this time it’s not a player.
Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton was denied entry into the Royal Box for the men’s final on Sunday because he apparently didn’t get the memo on their strict ‘jacket and tie’ policy.
The British race car driver had turned up at SW19 wearing a bright floral shirt and a hat, leaving the organisers with no choice but to send back their high-profile guest. Hamilton was offered the option of changing into spares the club keeps for such situations, but he chose to decline the offer.
The news however came a bit late in the day for Hamilton, who had already taken to Instagram to announce his arrival at the All England Club.
Due to an unfortunate misunderstanding regarding dress code at Wimbledon, Lewis is very disappointed to have missed the men’s final.

While Hamilton left a seat empty in the Royal Box, Hollywood actors Bradley Cooper, Hugh Grant, Benedict Cumberbatch and Kate Winslet all stuck to the dress code and got past the strict security at The All England Club.
