Riding on Virat Kolhi 59 runs off 45 balls and Rishabh Pant 65 runs off 42 balls, India defeated West Indies by seven wickets in the final T20I to clinch the three-match series 3-0 in Georgetown in Guyana at Providence Stadium on Tuesday.

After opting to bowl first, India’s Deepak Chahar, playing his first match of the series, took three wickets to dismantle the West Indies top order. Chahar was well supported by Navdeep Saini, who continued his good run with the ball, picking up two wickets on Tuesday.

However, Kieron Pollard smashed his 3rd T20I fifty and with Rovman Powell and shared a 66-run stand which helped Windies post a respectable total of 146 runs after a poor start.

  • India have registered their fourth clean sweep by 3-0 in T20Is - the first three being vs Australia in Australia in 2015-16; vs Sri Lanka in India in 2017-18 and vs West Indies in India in 2018-19.
  • India have produced six successive victories against West Indies in T20Is since 4 November 2018.
  • Kieron Pollard has taken seven years to register a fifty (58 off 45 balls). His first half century against India is his third in Twenty20 Internationals. He had recorded an unbeaten 54 vs Australia at Gros Islet on March 27, 2012 and an unbeaten 63 vs New Zealand at Lauderhill on 30 June 2012.
  • For the first time in a T20I innings, Pollard has posted six sixes. He had posted five sixes in each of his first two half centuries.
  • Pollard has become the fourth West Indian player to complete 50 sixes or more sixes in T20Is. He has joined Chris Gayle (105), Marlon Samuels (69) and Evin Lewis (54).
  • Navdeep Saini, with five wickets at 15.60 runs apiece in three matches, is the top wicket-taker in the series.
  • Shikhar Dhawan has averaged just 9.00 in the just concluded series - his tally being 27 in three innings. For the third time in a bilateral series of minimum two matches, he has averaged less than 10 - the first two instances being 7.00 (aggregate 14) vs South Africa in two matches in 2015-16 and 6.33 (aggregate 19) vs England in three matches in 2018.
  • Dhawan has managed an average of 15.00 this year while aggregating 105 in seven innings - his worst performance in a calendar year when he has played at least five matches.

  • Virat Kohli has become the first Indian skipper to win all three tosses in a bilateral T20I series.
  • Deepak Chahar (3/4) has recorded his best bowling figures in T20Is. The said figures are the best by an Indian bowler vs West Indies in T20Is, eclipsing Kuldeep Yadav's three for 13 at Kolkata on 4 November 2018.
  • Deepak's excellent bowling figures are the least economical by an Indian bowler when taking three wickets in a T20I.
  • Virat Kohli (59) has posted his first fifty in T20Is in the Caribbean, bettering the 39 vs West Indies at Kingston on 9 July 2017.
  • With 21 innings of fifty-plus, Kohli has emulated Rohit Sharma's tally of 21 fifty-plus innings (four centuries + 17 fifties) in T20Is.
  • Rishabh Pant (65 not out) has recorded his highest score and his second fifty in T20Is, bettering the 58 vs West Indies at Chennai on 11 November 2018.
  • Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli were involved in a stand of 106 for the third wicket - the highest partnership for any wicket by any pair in the just concluded series.
  • The previous best stand in this series was 76 between Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell for the third wicket at Lauderhill on 4 August 2019.
  • The aforesaid century stand is India's second highest for the third wicket vs West Indies in T20Is behind the 130 between Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant in Chennai on 11 November 2018.
