On this day in 2008, India’s Ace shooter Abhinav Bindra made history by winning the first ever individual gold medal for India in an Olympics event. By winning the gold in the 10 m Air Rifle event at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, he not only became the first Indian to achieve the feat but was also India’s first gold medal since 1980, when the Men’s field Hockey team won the gold.
