In a third case of homicide of an Indian in the US, a 39-year-old gas station clerk, Sanjay Patel, was shot and killed in a probable robbery, in New Haven, Connecticut on Monday night.

Witnesses saw two masked men running from the scene of crime.

The New Haven Police are currently on a search for the two armed robbers––both of whom fled after shooting Patel thrice on his chest and once on his hand. The incident took place at 7.30 pm in what was probably a robbery gone wrong, at the Citgo station on Forbes Avenue, according to authorities.

As reported by NBC, Patel was taken to the Yale-New Haven Hospital but died after an hour.

We’re looking for two people that may be involved. We don’t necessarily believe that two were firing guns. We know at least one was.

Previous Killings

On February 15, a 28-year-old Indian American businessman, Amit Patel, too was gunned down by an unidentified assailant inside his family-owned liquor store in New Jersey, United States.

Patel was alone in the liquor store, owned by his father, when the assailant shot at him at close range––according to a report by nj.com. There was no damage to the store or indication of a robbery and only one shot was fired, the report claimed.

In another incident on January 2, a 42-year-old Indian American, Parchuri Balagopal, from Andhra Pradesh, who was running a gas station in Myrtle Beach in South Carolina, was shot dead by assailants after they snatched money from him, as reported by The Hindu.
