A set of missiles have hit a children’s hospital, a school and other locations in the rebel-held Syrian town of Azaz and Idlib province near the Turkish border on Monday.

Seven Russian missiles struck a hospital in the northern Syrian town of Azaz on Monday, a Turkish security official said, making the civilian death toll rise above 14.

Independent Doctors Association, a Syrian non-government organisation that runs a hospital in Bab-al-Salama near the Turkish border, said at least 30 people were wounded in the attacks. A resident said a refugee shelter south of the town was also bombed by jets, believed to be Russian.

MSF-Backed Hospital in Syria Destroyed by Air Strikes -Statement

Meanwhile, a hospital supported by medical charity Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) in the Idlib province of northern Syria was “deliberately” hit by air strikes on Monday. Eight people are missing, the MSF said in a statement.

Media sources have reported nine people were killed after the Russian airstrike.

This is a deliberate attack against a health establishment. The destruction of this hospital deprives about 40,000 people of healthcare in this conflict zone.
Massimiliano Rebaudengo, Head of Mission. MSF

According to MSF, the hospital was destroyed after being hit by four missiles following two attacks within a few minutes of each other. At least eight people are unaccounted for.

The hospital, which has 54 staff and holds 30 beds, is financed by the medical charity. MSF also supplies medicines and equipment to the facility.
