Fashion House Which Dressed Michelle Obama Says No to Melania

Sophie Theallet is a US based French designer who has been making headlines in the fashion industry the last couple of years for dressing the US First Lady Michelle Obama. In the last eight years, Obama has been spotted wearing Theallet ensemble.

However, on Thursday, in an interesting turn of events, Sophie Theallet took to Twitter to express her intentions of never dressing the next US First Lady, Melania Trump.

Among other things, Michelle Obama has garnered attention from all sides of the spectrum for her fashion choices. The US First Lady has donned clothes by designers like Jason Wu and Tracy Reese.

Theallet shared a letter on the micro-blogging website in which she unequivocally declared that the fashion house would not dress Trump, owing to her husband’s “rhetoric of racism, sexism and xenophobia”. She further added that though it is wise for her brand to not get involved in politics, but “Integrity is our only true currency.”

While the decision was lauded by many on Twitter, there were several people who panned Theallet.
