US President Donald Trump's daughter and advisor Ivanka Trump, who is scheduled to arrive in India on 28 November to attend the Global Entrepreneurship Summit, said that the event was a testament to the "strong friendship" between the two countries.

Ivanka added that India was "a great friend and partner" to the US. She also reportedly said that she was "looking forward" to meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. The three-day event, themed ‘Women First and Prosperity for All’, will be held in Hyderabad, and has been organised in partnership with the US.

The summit, to be attended by 1,500 entrepreneurs from 170 countries, will see around 350 participants from the US, a large number of whom are Indian-Americans.

Ivanka, who will lead a high-powered American delegation, will deliver the keynote at the summit that will be inaugurated by PM Modi.

Likening Trump's assertion of 'America First' to the Modi government's 'Make in India', Ivanka said that the two are "not mutually exclusive". “Most governments prioritise people of their country, but that is not in a vacuum," she was quoted as saying by Times of India.

Hyderabad Decks Up to Greet Ivanka

The Telangana government is reportedly ''beautifying'' Hitec City area in Hyderabad as it rolls out the red carpet for America's first daughter. According to an Indian Express report, the government has allocated a budget of nearly Rs 100 crore to lay new pavements and install flower beds. Roads that were in need of dire repair are reportedly being given a makeover before the visit.

Ivanka will attend a dinner hosted by PM Modi at Falaknuma Palace on 28 November, where she will dine with the VIPs at a Nizam-era table with 101 seats, the report said.

‘Women First’

Elaborating on the summit’s women-centric theme, Ivanka was quoted as saying:

It demonstrates the administration’s “commitment to the principle that when women are economically empowered, their communities and countries thrive.

Women will represent 52.5 percent of the entrepreneurs, investors and ecosystem supporters at the GES 2017 – with over 10 countries, including Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and Israel being represented by an all-women delegation, the State Department said.
