Hillary Clinton made history as she accepted her US presidential nomination with “humility, determination and boundless confidence in America’s promise” to become the nation’s first female nominee.

In the “biggest speech of her career” for the Democratic presidential nomination, she thanked her family, “friends of a lifetime” and US President Barack Obama for making her a better person with his friendship.

Hillary took the stage after her daughter Chelsea on the final day of the Democratic National Convention. She may not be a typical grandma, but she’s a doting one, said Chelsea as she introduced her mother.

I will be a president for Democrats, Republicans, independents, for the struggling, the striving and the successful. For those who vote for me and those who don’t.

As she became the first woman nominee of a major party, the democratic nominee said that the achievement is a special one “for grandmothers and little girls and everyone in between.”

Trump, Unqualified

Clinton drew a sharp contrast with her general election rival Donald Trump, calling the Republican supremely unqualified for the White House.

Imagine him in the Oval Office facing a real crisis. A man you can bait with a tweet is not a man we can trust with nuclear weapons.

Taking a dig at Donald Trump who claimed last week that he’s only one who can fix “the system”, Clinton told the Democrats at the convention not to believe anyone who says, “I alone can fix it.”

Hillary Clinton also said that Donald Trump didn’t offer any real solutions to the nation’s problems when he gave his nominating speech at the Republican National Convention last week.

As she checked off one policy difference after another with her Republican rival, Clinton also promised to appoint Supreme Court justices “who will get money out of politics” and expand voting rights, “not restrict them.”

While blasting Trump, Clinton said that while the republican talks a “big game” about putting America first, his products including a clothing line, furniture and picture frames are manufactured overseas.

Donald Trump says he wants to make America great again. Well, he could start by actually making things in America again.

Minimum wage, employment, trade, expanding health insurance, equal pay for women, and students loans were some of the other issues that Clinton addressed in her acceptance speech.

“Keep Working, Keep Fighting”

Several times during her acceptance speech, Hillary spoke of the influence her mother, Dorothy Rodham, had in her life.

Abandoned at the age of 14, her mother never let Hillary back down from challenges and taught her to “stand up to bullies”. She mentioned how her mother’s words urging her “to keep working, keep fighting for right, no matter what” still ring in her ears in tough times.

As balloons blanketed the stage, Clinton wrapped up her speech by urging Americans to look to the future “with courage and confidence.”
