After Facebook rolled out the ‘donate’ button to collect contributions for Nepal earthquake survivors, the social networking website said that it has raised funds over $10 million within two days.
The Himalayan nation, which was rattled by a powerful earthquake measuring 7.9 on Richter Scale on April 25 left over 6,000 dead and injured more than 10,000.
According to a status posted by Facebook founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg it was revealed that the social made the amount in just a couple of days.
We gave people the option on Facebook to support local relief efforts. In two days, more than half a million people donated and raised more than $10 million to support the International Media Corps relief effort.

Other then the $10 million, Facebook will also donate an additional $2 million to local recovery efforts to help those in affected areas.
The popular social media platform had also activated a safety feature where more than seven million people in Nepal have been marked as safe.
The Facebook CEO has also stated that it is inspiring to see communities coming together to help people in their time of need.
