Janadhikar Party chief Pappu Yadav released the party manifesto for the Bihar elections on Wednesday. Yadav said that the party would formulate a law making it mandatory for wards of public representatives and government officials to study in government schools.
Yadav said parents of children not going to government schools would have to answer for it and they would not be given official facilities.
The manifesto proposed to make roads in Bihar toll-free for students and farmers. It also proposed to provide 30 per cent subsidy and sales tax concession to students for purchase of automatic scooters.
Janadhikar Party is an important constituent of the Third Front in the Bihar elections, which includes NCP and Samajwadi Party among others. It is contesting 64 seats in the Bihar elections.
Yadav said parents of families having two daughters would be honoured and a sum of Rs 50,000 would be given for each girl child.
He also promised implementation of the Sachar Committee recommendations within three months.
The manifesto also discussed the cancellation of licences of shops caught selling adulterated medication and will face a penalty of Rs 50 lakh.
To institute social reform, the manifesto promised a Rs 10 lakh grant to those having intercaste marriages and a government job for the wife.
The party also promised to check expensive weddings and fix an upper limit of Rs 20 lakh on expenditure. If the expenditure exceeded the limit, a luxury tax would be imposed.
We’re yet to see how many of these promises of the Pappu Yadav led Janadhikar Party actually materialise, for now, the manifesto seems populist but pretty fanciful.
