Opinion Polls: Jaya, Mamata to Win; Cong, BJP Fight for Assam
An opinion poll by CVoter, broadcast by Times Now and CNN-IBN, shows a shift in power in Kerala and possibly in Assam
Opinion polls predicting the future of political parties are indicative of the fact that election season is here.
Four states (Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala) and one union territory (Puducherry) are all set to go for polls in April and May. Counting will be held on 19 May.
Times Now and CNN-IBN unveiled their findings from the opinion polls they conducted during their respective primetime shows and this is what the overall picture looks like.
The opinion poll by India TV and CVoter in Assam give the lead to the Bharatiya Janata Party. The state which is currently ruled by Congress’ Tarun Gogoi might just fall into the BJP’s hands. Sarbananda Sonowal, the Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports is the party’s chief ministerial candidate.
Assam – 126 seats
BJP 55 seats
In Tamil Nadu, however, the ruling AIADMK led by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa is set to come back with an absolute majority.
Tamil Nadu – 375 seats
In Kerala, the ruling UDF seems to be facing anti-incumbency.
Kerala – 140 seats
