With elections approaching in Tamil Nadu, regional channels seem to be doing their best to line up interviews of state politicians.
Polimer TV did one such sit-down interview with MDMK chief Vaiko. The clip is now going viral, but not because the interview itself was a hit.
Vaiko walked out in a huff in the middle of the interview when asked if his party was offered a huge sum by Tamil Nadu’s ruling AIADMK.
A visibly angry Vaiko was seen getting up from his seat before the question was even completed, saying: “I am cancelling the interview with this.”
Watch for yourself.
Vaiko had previously alleged that Karunanidhi’s DMK had offered Rs 500 crore and 80 seats to Vijayakanth’s DMDK, asking the actor-turned-politician to form an alliance with the DMK.
DMK president M Karunanidhi immediately sent Vaiko a legal notice for defaming him. Karunanidhi also demanded for Vaiko to withdraw the statement and express regret for it.
In this context, the interviewer had asked what was the basis for Vaiko to make such an allegation. In response, Vaiko said, “It was on the basis of reliable information I told that.”
The interviewer then shifted focus to similar allegations against MDMK and Jayalalithaa’s AIADMK.
He asked Vaiko’s party MDMK was offered Rs 1,500 crore by the AIADMK, which he claimed was acting as AIADMK’s B-team, at which point Vaiko abruptly ended the interview.
