Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani was on Sunday, 15 April, stopped from entering Rajasthan’s Nagaur district. He was on his way to deliver a talk on BR Ambedkar’s “life, values, principles, philosophy and the Constitution of India.”

In a video to The Quint, Jignesh Mevani was evidently scathing with fury.

This is an example of how the Vasundhara Raje government is shook by my arrival in Rajasthan.

Mevani asserts that a letter had been issued by Nagaur’s District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of the Police (SP) stating that he should not be allowed inside Nagor.

He also says that as soon as he stepped out of the airport he was surrounded by cops and an environment hostile to his movement in Rajasthan was created.

Mevani, in his video, says that the situation is distressing considering that in Uttar Pradesh “the Yogi Adityanath government keeps Babasaheb Ambedkar’s statue locked up in a cell,” and in Rajasthan they prevent him from delivering a talk on Ambedkar and the Constitution of India.

This behaviour by the Vasundhara Raje Government is entirely unconstitutional, and it will not do under any circumstance.

Mevani also took to Twitter to express his disappointment with the Vasundhara Raje government, saying that had Mohan Bhagwat gone to Nagpur to talk about the Manusmriti, he would never have been stopped.
