As the tussle between Arvind Kejriwal (and the Aam Aadmi Party), and Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung becomes murkier by the day, in the ongoing two-day Delhi Assembly proceedings, AAP has moved a resolution to impeach Jung.
Just a day after Arvind Kejriwal vociferously stated in his Open Cabinet that they “would wrest back control from the Centre and not tolerate any interference,” the party is all set to take the battle to the next level with the reolution for impeachment.
The Delhi Assembly proceedings began on a stormy note as Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia sought to pass a resolution against the Ministry of Home Affairs’ notification issued on Friday, which said that Lieutenant Governor Jung had primacy in postings and transfers of officers belonging to Central services.
As if on cue, AAP MLA Adarsh Shastri later, sought an amendment in Article 155 of the Constitution, so as to give the state powers to impeach the LG.
Shastri added that he was hoping that the Assembly would pass the resolution and force the Parliament to consider the issue.
