Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has never indulged in ‘polarisation politics’.
Responding to an order by the Supreme Court, Singh said he agreed with the apex court when it said religion and caste-based politics should not be done.
In a landmark ruling, the Supreme Court on Monday said that no politician would be allowed to seek votes in the name of caste, creed, or religion. A seven-judge bench of the apex court passed the judgement after hearing detailed arguments from various petitioners and respondents in Hindutva cases.
In its order, the court said that elections are a “secular exercise and thereby its way and process should be followed.”
Twitter Scoffs at Rajnath’s Remark
The minister’s comment didn’t go unnoticed and people on Twitter were amused by his “lies”.
Some dug out past instances and decided to juxtapose them with Rajnath’s comment to prove their point.
